Wellness Coaching

Balancing school with all of life’s responsibilities and maintaining your wellness can be challenging. We have the resources to help you work towards your academic and personal goals.

Our Wellness Coaches are here to help one on one with stress management and coping skills, time management, self-care, goal setting and planning, and connecting you to other campus and community resources. Wellness Coaches can also provide a referral to counselling services on campus.

by Lakeysha (oneilll3) | Sep 17, 2021

What do you do for students?

We are a full-service medical clinic and mental health counselling office. Care is provided in the clinic, by phone or by video chat. We offer pre-booked appointments with a Nurse Practitioner, Physician or Mental Health Counsellor. Walk in appointments are not available and same day appointments are very limited.  Medical appointments are available to CNC students and staff.  Counselling appointments are available to students.

How should students prepare for a visit or call?

If you are already a registered patient, request an appointment by emailing health@cnc.bc.ca.

If you are a new patient, email health@cnc.bc.ca and request a Patient Registration Package. The package will be emailed. Complete the documents and return them to the centre.

What else should students know about your department?

Medical appointments are 10 – 30 minutes and counselling appointments are 60 minutes. There is no charge for any services in the Health and Wellness Centre.

Some of our most common appointments include:

  • Sexual Health (Pregnancy and STI testing, Birth Control Counselling, PAP Testing)
  • Completion of Immunization Checklists to meet admission requirements of Health Science Programs
  • Mental Health Support (Assessment and medical management of diagnoses such as anxiety, depression and ADHD)
  • Minor Procedures (Ear flushes, suture removal, IUD insertion, Nexplanon insertion, dressings)
  • Prescription renewal or changes

Why do most patients make mental health counselling appointments?

  • Any mental health difficulties that are intense, persistent and impacting academic or day-to-day functioning.
  • Anxiety and depression.
  • Trauma and abuse.
  • Relationship difficulties.
  • Grief

The clinic email is for booking and general information. Medical advice will not be provided by email. If you are unsure if we can help you - ask anyway.  Email health@cnc.bc.ca with your question or concern and we will figure it out together.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q. Where can I get a copy of my immunization record to complete the admission form for my program?

A.  This is a more complicated question than it seems but we are able to point you in some good directions. If you received immunizations in B.C., the best place to check first is healthgateway.gov.bc.ca If you are not successful at that website, don’t give up. Contact us and we will figure it out together.

Q. Can I come to you clinic if I have a regular family doctor in Prince George?

A.  All students and staff are welcome BUT our services do not replace the services of your family physician.  Please make every effort to connect with your family physician before booking an appointment with us. The exception to this advice is to use us first for completion of CNC forms such as Immunization Checklists or Withdrawal Forms.

Q.  Do I need to be referred to see the Counsellor?

A.  No, patients may book appointments with the Counsellor at their discretion.
