Provincial Tuition Waiver Program and Learning for Future Grant
If you are a former youth in care attending a BC public post-secondary institution, or the Native Education College, and was in the care from the Ministry of Children and Family Development for a minimum of 24 months, you may be eligible for the Provincial Tuition Waiver Program and the Learning for Future Grant. The program was created to improve access and educational outcomes for former youth in care.

How To Apply
- Complete the Provincial Tuition Waiver Program and Learning for Future Grant application form.
- Attached copy of your current government issued photo identification.
- Submit your application via email to Finaid@cnc.bc.ca or in person at the Financial Aid and Awards Office Room 1-724
- For a paper copy, further details, or assistance with your application, Contact CNC Financial Aid & Awards by email, phone, or drop in the office.
The consent form permits CNC to confirm your eligibility with the Ministry of Children and Family Development. More information is available though the BC Government
Students already attending school on the Provincial Tuition Waiver can apply annually for the Learning for Future Grant. Complete the Declaration form Learning for Future Grant Declaration Form and submit your application via email to Finaid@cnc.bc.ca or in person at the Financial Aid & Awards Office Room 1-724.
Youth in Care Resources
Youth Futures Education Fund (YFEF)
The Youth Futures Education Fund (YFEF) is designed to assist students of all ages currently enrolled at CNC. This grant supports essential needs such as textbooks, housing, utilities, and emergency expenses.

Strengthening Abilities and Journeys of Empowerment (SAJE)
The SAJE program supports young individuals with care experience until the age of 27. Eligible students can access income supports, housing supports, health and wellness supports, life-skills training, and cultural connections funding.

Learning Fund for Young Adults (LFYA)
The Learning Fund for Young Adults (LFYA). This is a one-time grant of $1,500 that helps young people (born after January 1, 2006) with BC care experience with MCFD/ICFSA's, participate in a range of learning opportunities. To support flexibility and autonomy in decision-making, applicants are encouraged to use this grant for educational, employment, training, or life-skills program, course or activity based on their interests and goals.
