Tom Simpson Memorial Automotive Endowment

Tom Simpson’s name and face is familiar to those that work within the Prince George automotive industry. His working career, spanning many years took him from working as a mechanic at Prince George Ford, to co-owning and operating his own business Benchmark Automotive in 2003, to teaching Automotive at the College of New Caledonia for fifteen years. Tom was also actively involved with automotive organizations like the Automotive Retailers Association, Canadian Independent Automotive Association, and the Industry Training Authority (ITA).

Tom was an advocate for the automotive industry and wanted more than anything to see up and coming automotive technicians receive the best possible training that is available to them. Tom was the driving force behind a number of initiatives in northern British Columbia, most notably putting the College of New Caledonia on the map as the best Automotive Technician Program in the province.

Tom's family and friends in conjunction with Benchmark Automotive, Competition Automotive, Fort George Alignment, Napa Autopro Gears Plus, Northern Trans-A-Matic, and Wright Choice Automotive have created the Tom Simpson Memorial Automotive Endowment in his honour. It is with great pride that the College of New Caledonia assists them in providing this bursary to students registered in the Career and Technical Centre (CTC) or Foundations Automotive Service Technician program each year.
