Policy Toolkit & Resources

Policy development can be overwhelming, so before you start writing, be sure to check out the resources below. If you have any questions please reach out the Policy, Planning & Strategy (PPS) team at policy@cnc.bc.ca.

 Policy Writing Guide

Describes what needs to be included in the policy and procedures and how to begin writing the draft documents.

 Policy Scan Template

This document helps you start and track your policy research and includes links to the policy pages of all BC post-secondary institutions.

 Indigenization Resources

We encourage those involved in policy development to review and reflect on the Indigenization resources available on the Centre for Teaching and Learning webpage. Additionally, BC Campus has developed the Indigenization Guide: Promising Practices and Policies to Support Student Transformation to highlight key areas of physical, intellectual, spiritual, and emotional supports in place at Canadian post-secondary institutions for Indigenous students.

 Plain Language Guide

Policies are written for a broad audience and may be used in times of emotional stress. It is important that our policies are easy to follow. This guide will help you use plain language principles in your policy writing.
