Eat CNC

Eat CNC is a digital resource to help CNC students find campus events that will have food available in an effort to reduce the stress associated with food insecurity. There is additional information shown below for students on how to access the CNC Student’s Union food bank and information on resources off campus that aim to reduce food insecurity.  

CNCSU Food Bank 

The Student Food Bank is intended for those who can’t afford to purchase food, and it is operated on the honour system. Please don’t abuse this service. The food bank is located in the Student’s Union office (room 1-303).  Whenever possible please help your fellow members out by donating boxed or canned food and other non-perishable food items. Every can counts!

Canada’s Food Guide: Making Healthy Meals with the Eat Well Plate 

Canada’s Food Guide provides a practical approach to creating balanced meals using the Eat Well Plate model. The guide emphasizes the importance of incorporating a variety of foods, such as vegetables and fruits, whole grains, and protein foods, into every meal and snack. It also encourages portion control and making water the beverage of choice.

The Indigenous Food Guide provides culturally relevant dietary guidance tailored to First Nations, Inuit, and Métis communities. It incorporates traditional foods and practices, acknowledging the importance of land, culture, and community in promoting health and well-being. The guide emphasizes a holistic approach to eating well, blending modern nutritional science with Indigenous knowledge to support balanced and sustainable diets. Everyone At the Table Canning Circle  

The EAT Canning Circle is a food recovery and education program where beginners can learn from Master Canners, and experienced individuals can share their skills. The program uses imperfect fresh foods recovered from the PG Salvation Army Food Recovery Program to create canned goods, and any food waste generated is composted. The program is open to everyone, but kitchen space is limited. Sessions are now held every Monday from 5:30 pm until completion at the South Fort George Family Resource Centre, 1200 La Salle Ave, Prince George, BC V2L 4J8.
