About Lori: Hello, my name is Lori Donald. I am just one of many Metis in Quesnel. With a lifelong connection to this community, I am honoured to call Quesnel my home. My Metis heritage traces back to Portage la Prairie and St Francois Xavier in Manitoba as well as St Louis and Prince Albert in Saskatchewan. I am dedicated to preserving the legacy of our Metis ancestors, bringing forth their struggles and encompassing their triumphs as one of Canada’s Indigenous peoples. I have always been drawn to historical studies and with this motivation, I earned my Bachelor of Arts degree locally. In fact, I was learning about my family’s long-hidden Metis history just as I was taking first year Canadian history courses with CNC, I recognized some of my ancestors’ name in some of my history books. With more questions than answers, I was motivated to learn even more about the Metis and my own family. In my spare time, I enjoy beading in the Metis floral style.
