Building Envelope Project

Building envelope work continues across the Prince George Campus through November.

Current work includes exterior finishing in the 200, 300 and 500 Blocks, soffit framing and perimeter lighting preparation in the 400 Block, and landscaping around the main courtyard.

Scaffolding and skylight replacement work are underway at the 700 Block, including the Main Entrance atrium. Work after 4:00pm may cause construction noise and temporary disruptions to nearby services.

Upcoming activities include sidewalk replacement near the 500 Block entrance, stair finishing in the 300 Block, and continued skylight replacement through November.

The Main Entrance and second-floor Learning Commons remain open during construction. Temporary route changes may be needed near active work areas.

100 Block Washroom Renovations

Renovations to the two washrooms on the 3rd floor of the 100 Block began Thursday, October 8. Both washrooms are closed during construction, with work expected to continue until mid-December.

Please use alternate washrooms while work is underway.

700 Block Exterior Lighting Update

The new exterior lights around the 700 Block have been installed but are not yet fully functioning. The lighting control system is awaiting final programming.

In the meantime, the lights will remain on to help maintain exterior lighting and support campus security.

Accessibility & Detours

  • Accessible parking at the South Main Entrance is temporarily relocated near the crosswalk ramp.

  • The following entrances and exits remain closed:

    • East Entrance

    • Two 1st-floor exits in the 300 Block

    • Back entrance of the Health and Wellness Centre (closed except for emergencies)

  • Temporary route changes may be needed near active scaffolding work, including the corridor outside the Learning Commons.

Please follow posted signage and allow extra time when travelling through campus.

Construction projects are a vital part of the ongoing development and improvement of the College. These projects bring numerous short- and long-term benefits, such as enhanced facilities and modernized infrastructure, improved overall campus experience, support for academic excellence, and promotion of sustainability.

Funding for Capital Projects comes from the government and is specifically allocated for construction projects to maintain and improve infrastructure. This funding is separate from the provincial funding that supports operational costs, research, and program-specific initiatives.

While building improvement projects bring many benefits, they also involve some short-term inconveniences. During construction projects, you may experience:

  • Temporary re-routing to alternate entrances and exits,
  • Closure of areas where construction is occurring,
  • Increased noise levels, and
  • Potential localized disruptions to utilities.

Efforts are made to minimize disruption. However, despite our best efforts, some construction-related inconveniences are unavoidable. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation as we work towards enhancing our facilities.  Staying informed through our official updates will help you navigate any changes and ensure a smooth transition during this period.

Yes, alternate routes are typically provided to ensure safe access to campus buildings. Information on these routes will be posted around campus and online.
