Educational Developer (Academic Quality Assurance)

Steve brings a passion for learner-centered design and quality education to his role at the Centre for Teaching and Learning. Having been in education since 2007, Steve has been a classroom Teacher, a Program Coordinator, and a Curriculum Developer. With extensive experience in curriculum development, program review, and instructional design, he collaborates with faculty to create engaging and inclusive learning experiences that align with student needs and institutional goals.

Project Planner – CTL Programs and Quality

Kristin specializes in project management, program review, and quality assurance in post-secondary education. She brings knowledge in curriculum development and processes to ensure programs meet institutional and accreditation standards. With over 8 years of experience at CNC and a Master of Education in Adult Education Leadership, Kristin is dedicated to enhancing teaching and learning.

Educational Technology and Multimedia Project Coordinator

Since joining CNC in 2020, Amber has made it her goal to improve processes and create content that helps people achieve their goals. In August 2024 she joined the CTL team, bringing a mixture of professional and hobbyist experience to her role. Amber provides a variety of services to the college, including: creating Moodle Guides and Accreditation videos; recording Capstone projects, lectures, and events; LMS improvement and support.

Sheena Jary

Educational Developer (Experiential and Work-Integrated Learning)

Dr. Sheena Jary holds a PhD from McMaster University, where she also completed a postdoctoral fellowship in the McCall MacBain Teaching and Leadership program. Her academic research is concerned with the social and political implications of Euclidean geometry in 17-th-century Europe. Sheena has received two McMaster Student Union Excellence in Teaching Awards to recognize her commitment to student success, growth, and wellbeing in the classroom. Sheena relocated to the College of New Caledonia in November 2024.

Rob Lewis

Dean of Teaching and Learning

Rob joins the college after 30 years in the K-12 system with School District 57 in Prince George, where he served as a teacher, educational technology coordinator, curriculum specialist, and school administrator. Over the years, Rob has collaborated with government ministries, publishers, and organizations across the province to develop and implement student and teacher learning resources.

Deb Nielsen

Curriculum Developer

Coming to post-secondary education later in life, Deb understands the challenges and successes of mature students. Having completed her studies while working full-time and raising a family, she has firsthand experience with work-life-school balance and the need for alternative education pathways. Deb is passionate about equity, diversity, and inclusion, trauma-informed practice, the Instructional Skills Workshop, and all aspects of open education.

Administrative Assistant

Brandee provides administrative support to the Dean, the CTL team, and the Faculty Professional Development Committee. She also writes the weekly CTL newsletter and enjoys engaging in college activities and special events with staff and students. Before joining CNC, Brandee spent a decade in School District 57, first as an education assistant in elementary schools for seven years before transitioning to a secondary school counseling secretary role for three years.

Educational Developer (Accessibility)

Mike has been at CNC since 2019 and has over 16 total years of experience in education and learning development. In his role at CNC, Mike supports faculty in creating inclusive and engaging learning experiences, with a strong focus on educational accessibility, participatory learning, and assessment. His work integrates Universal Design for Learning (UDL), experiential learning, and digital pedagogy to remove barriers and foster student success.

Alex Roy

Learning Management Systems Administrator

Alex has served as CNC's leave replacement LMS Administrator since April 2024, bringing over 10 years of experience in technology within the post-secondary education sector. In this role, Alex specializes in the configuration, maintenance, and optimization of CNC's LMS platform, Moodle. He ensures the platform runs smoothly by providing essential backend support, troubleshooting technical issues, managing updates, and continuously enhancing the system.

Stella Suhr

Project Planner - Programs & Quality Assurance

With over a decade of experience, Stella specializes in project management, strategic planning, Indigenous and First Nations relations, and applied research. A pragmatic leader, she is passionate about decolonization, reconciliation, rightsholder consultation, universal design for learning, accessibility, EDIB, and lifelong learning. At CNC, she ensures projects align with the institution's commitment to quality education.

Educational Developer

Rhea supports faculty in implementing and connecting their “big goals” for instruction with student learning. She connects faculty with skills and resources to implement their big goals for instruction. She loves working with instructors to support best practices of pedagogy, promote educational innovation, integrate excellent assessment of-for and as learning, and use ongoing reflective practice to assess their impact in their instructional space.
