Current Updates 

Stay informed with regular updates as construction progresses. We’ll keep you posted on project milestones, potential disruptions, and other important details.

Building envelope work continues through October across the Prince George Campus, focusing on the 100, 300, 500, and 700 Blocks. Crews are replacing windows, removing façades, installing roof and moisture barriers, and completing elevated walkway and stair work. Expect construction noise, partial entrance closures, and alternate access routes throughout the month.

Accessible parking near the Main Entrance has been relocated to the crosswalk ramp, and a detour is in place for those walking from the east side.

Upcoming Activities

Week of October 6 - 12

700 Block

  • Roof installation continues.
  • Brick façade removal and penthouse stucco demolition in progress.
  • New supports and paneling being installed under the main and east entrances - temporary closures may be required.

100 Block:

  • Window replacement (7:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m.)
  • Moisture shield barrier and clip installation
  • Fire separation replacements.

300 Block: Elevated walkway concrete cutting

Week of October 13 – 19

700 Block

  • Roof installation continues.
  • Brick façade removal and penthouse stucco demolition in progress.
  • New supports and paneling being installed under the main and east entrances - temporary closures may be required.

100 Block:

  • Window replacement (7:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m.)
  • Moisture shield barrier and clip installation
  • Fire separation replacements.

300 Block: Elevated walkway concrete cutting

500 Block: Sidewalk and foundation removal at the west entrance for stair replacement.

Week of October 20 – 26

700 Block

  • Roof installation, façade removal, and penthouse stucco demolition continue.
  • Paneling work under entrances ongoing. Temporary closures may occur.

300 Block: Elevated walkway demolition.

100 Block: Window replacement and moisture shield barrier installation.

500 Block: Stair installation in progress.

Week of October 27 – November 2

700 Block: Roof installation, façade removal, and penthouse stucco demolition continue.

300 Block: Elevated walkway demolition ongoing.

100 Block: Window replacement and moisture shield barrier installation continue.

Expected Impacts:

🔊 Noise: Elevated noise levels.

🚧 Access: Temporary alternate routes and partial entrance closures. Small detour at the west entrance during stair replacement.

🚫 Closures: Weight Room and second level of 500 Block closed until further notice. Bike rack at west entrance closed until end of October.

👷 Visibility: Ongoing construction activity and visual disruptions in affected areas.

  • For your safety, do not enter active construction zones.

About the Project 

The Building Envelope Project is designed to enhance the exterior of the Prince George campus with energy-efficient upgrades, a modernized aesthetic, and a focus on long-term sustainability. These improvements will provide a more comfortable, energy-efficient space for everyone at CNC while maintaining our facilities’ resilience well into the future.

This project is made possible with restricted capital funding by the Ministry of Infrastructure. 

The Building Envelope Project aligns with CNC’s Strategic Plan (lhulh whuts’odutel’eh – Learning Together) under Priority 3.5: Rejuvenate College Infrastructure. Specifically, it supports objectives 3.5.1 through 3.5.4 by upgrading campus infrastructure, revitalizing learning spaces, improving sustainability, and helping reduce the college’s overall carbon footprint.

  • Long-term durability to ensure the campus remains functional and eco-friendly for years to come.  

Project Timeline

  • March 2025: Pre-construction preparations and site setup begin.
  • April 11:Pre-construction phase
  • April 25:Transition to demolition stage.
  • May 2025: Official construction begins.
  • May 9, 2025: Demolition work on the 100 Block started
  • June 8, 2025: 100 Block demolition work largely complete. Demolition work on the 700 Block started.
  • June 15, 2025: Demolition work on the east and south side of the 700 Block continues.
  • July 2, 2025: Installation of initial building envelope components at the east and south side of the 700 Block started.
  • August 11, 2025: Roof work, brick façade and wall stucco removal on the 700 Block started
  • August 18, 2025: Penthouse demolition and landscaping work on the 700 Block started
  • September 4, 2025: Elevated walkway work on the 300 Block started
  • September 8, 2025: Window replacement work on the 100 Block started. Moisture shield barrier installation on 100 Block started.
  • October 14, 2025: Sidewalk and foundation removal at the west entrance of the 500 Block for stair replacement started.
  • Duration: Approximately 2 years 
  • Completion Date: May 2027 (estimated)
