Environment Canada warns that visibility may be suddenly reduced due to heavy snowfall, creating hazardous travel conditions throughout the day. Residents should be prepared for rapidly changing and deteriorating weather and avoid unnecessary travel when possible.
Winter Safety Tips
To stay safe during extreme winter conditions, residents and students are advised to:
- Dress in layers with a wind-resistant outer shell.
- Keep extremities covered with warm socks, gloves, a hat, and a scarf.
- Check road and weather conditions before heading out.
- Stay indoors when possible to avoid exposure to extreme cold and poor visibility.

Students in need of warm winter clothing can access donated winter gear at various locations in the community.
