Dear CNC community:

I ask you to join me in commemorating the National Day of Remembrance for Victims of Terrorism. On Sunday, the College will lower its flags in solemn remembrance of those who have tragically lost their lives to acts of terrorism.

June 23rd is significant in marking the anniversary of the devastating bombing of Air India Flight 182 in 1985. This heinous act claimed the lives of all 329 individuals on board, the majority of whom were Canadians. It stands as the largest act of mass murder and terrorism in Canadian history.

In 2005, the Government of Canada designated this day as the National Day of Remembrance for Victims of Terrorism. This day intends to acknowledge that terrorist attacks are abhorrent acts against humanity. The day allows us to honor the memory of the victims while unequivocally condemning terrorism. i

I encourage each of you to take a moment to reflect on the lives lost in the Air India bombing and to consider the profound impacts of terrorism globally.

Thank you for honoring and remembering these victims.

Your voice is important
