The beginning of September marks a new academic year across all CNC campuses. All campuses will host orientation events to welcome new and returning students, starting September 5th based on their program offerings for the fall.

“We’re thrilled to welcome students to campus for the fall semester. It’s my favourite time of year,” said CNC president and CEO Dennis Johnson. “It’s always exciting to see new faces ready to start their academic journeys and to think of the opportunities that lie ahead. The best piece of advice I could offer students is to ask for help when they need it. Everyone at CNC wants to see students succeed.”

Throughout the week, students will have a chance to meet CNC staff and faculty, explore their local campus, and meet peers through a variety of scheduled activities. Both Prince George and Quesnel kickoff orientation events will include a campus welcome, tours, and a barbecue for all new and returning students.

Attendees will also learn about important student services and supports through orientation activities and online webinars. These supports, including financial aid and awards, accessibility services, and academic advising are designed to ease the transition into post-secondary education.

“Being a student is more than going to classes and completing assignments. We want to make sure every student has the support they need to succeed,” said Shelley Carter-Rose, vice president of student affairs. “Orientation week is one of the best ways for students to learn about services that will help them achieve their goals."

CNC Students’ Union (CNCSU) representatives will also be on site to share information about student life, clubs, recreational activities, and their members' lounge.

"Orientation is all about connecting and making new friends, and that really ties into what we do with the students’ union,” said Anuroop Kaur, chairperson of the CNC Students’ Union. “We want to make sure every student finds their place at CNC, so we create networking, skill-building, and community engagement opportunities year-round. I’d encourage all new and returning students to connect with us!"

CNC is encouraging all new students to attend orientation. There will be no regular classes on September 5 until 5:00pm, excluding health sciences and trades and technologies programs that began in August.

For more information and a detailed schedule of events for both campuses, visit the Orientation web page. Students who complete Online Orientation before September 15 will be entered to win a $500 tuition credit.
