A recent maintenance project at the College of New Caledonia’s (CNC) Prince George campus is the inspiration behind a new campaign encouraging students to slide into their future.
Last month, CNC made the difficult decision to relocate the iconic ”waterslide” air ducts that have cascaded into the Gathering Place from the second floor overlook for nearly 25 years.
The College took quick action to honour the ducts, which served as both a functioning part of the HVAC system and loved art installation, with the launch of the “Slide into Your Future” campaign. Phase one, which launched today, will see the installation of a slide designed to quickly take users from the third floor to the first floor in a fun and safe way.
The “Slide into Your Future” campaign is another example of how CNC is accelerating students both in and out of the classroom. This mode of transportation will give students and employees quick access to one of CNC’s main student avenues, which includes the bookstore, print shop, cafeteria, and other services.
Future slide installations are planned in phase two of the “Slide into Your Future” campaign, which is scheduled for early 2022. Half of every staircase at all six campuses will be converted into a slide.
CNC is seeking the public’s input of a series of potential phase two slide designs.
