Borrow, Renew, and Request Library Materials

Borrowing books

For Prince George & Quesnel Campuses:

  1. Find the book you want.

  1. Take it to the Learning Commons service desk.

  1. They'll check it out for you. You can usually keep it for 3 weeks. If it's a reserved book, you'll have it for a shorter time.

For Other Campuses:

  1. Find your book.

  1. Bring it to the Reception Desk. The staff will write down your details on the book card.

  1. Done reading? Bring it back to the same place.

  1. If there's no staff around, don't worry! Just write your details on the card and drop them in the file box.

Want a book from a different campus?

  1. Visit the InterLibrary Loans Page to learn more about that service.

  1. Contact cnclibrary@cnc.bc.ca for additional support.

Need more time with you book?

You can renew at any campus library or do it online. Here's how online works:
  1. Go to the library's homepage.

  1. Click on Classic Catalogue.

  1. Click on MY ACCOUNT, then RENEW MY MATERIALS.

  1. Enter your User ID (14-digit library card number) and PIN number (the 4-digit number we provided when you first received your card)

  1. Pick the books you want to renew and click RENEW SELECTED ITEMS.

  2. Remember, always log out if you're on a public computer.

Need help? Visit the Learning Commons service desk or call us during business hours.

Good to know: You can renew regular items up to 4 times. But reserve items can't be renewed.

Want a book that’s out?

If a book you want is already checked out, you can ask for it to be held for you. If someone else has it, you can ask for a recall. This means they can't renew it.

  1. In the Catalogue, see a book that's checked out? Click on PLACE HOLD.

  1. Fill in your library information.

  1. Need help? Visit the Learning Commons service desk or call us during business hours.
