Event Description

Join us for a screening of the Sugarcane documentary as we reflect on the truths of residential schools and create space for dialogue, healing, and learning. Both afternoon and evening screenings are offered. 

Today’s event will be held in the Lecture Theatre (room 1-369). 

Schedule 

  • 12:30pm: Doors Open
    Refreshments and bannock will be available before the screening.

  • 12:45pm: Welcome and Opening Words 
    A brief welcome and grounding to begin the session.

  • 1:00pm: Sugarcane Film Screening 
    Watch the award-winning documentary exploring residential school experiences and intergenerational impacts.

  • 2:30pm: Guest Speaker & Discussion 
    Hear from Williams Lake Chief Willie Sellars, who is featured in the film, and take part in a Q&A and reflection.
