Truth & Reconciliation Week: Opening Ceremony and Commitment to Reconciliation

Truth and Reconciliation Week begins with ceremony, reflection, and storytelling. Elders, Survivors, and youth will guide us in opening the space, remembering the children who never came home, and committing to reconciliation. All students and staff are encouraged to attend. 

Today’s event will take place in the Gathering Place.  

Schedule

• 11:30am: Grounding & Smudge 
  Begin the day with an Elder-led smudge and grounding activity, creating a space of respect, balance, and reflection. 

• 12:00pm–1:00pm: Opening Ceremony 
  Elders, Survivors, and youth lead a ceremony with prayer, drumming, and storytelling to mark the beginning of Truth and Reconciliation Week.  

• 1:00pm–2:00pm: Bannock Bake Off & Reconciliation Commitment Banner Pledge 
  Share bannock and refreshments while signing a community banner as a pledge to walk together in reconciliation.
