Suspended or Cancelled Programs

Due to recent changes announced by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) CNC has decided to suspend some programs for 2025 spring and fall semesters. More detail about the field of study requirement for post-graduate work permits can be found on the IRCC website.

If you were registered in one of these programs or were intending to apply to them, here’s what you need to know.

I had applied for or was registered in one of the suspended programs, what do I do?

We are reaching out to each affected student to help navigate your unique situation. If you have questions about your specific circumstances, please contact the International department at intl_edu@cnc.bc.ca.
What does “suspending” a program mean?

This means that CNC is not taking new students into those programs at this time. Students who started their program before it was suspended can still complete and graduate from their program.

However, if you are a current student, we highly recommend that you work with a student success advisor to plan your studies. This is important, especially for our post-diploma students.
What will happen to the suspended programs?

Programs that have been suspended must be re-evaluated by the College’s Education Council before opening again. These programs may be changed to better align with the labour market needs or removed from our program catalogue.

Which programs meet IRCC's requirements to apply for a Post-Graduate Work Permit?

You can find programs that meet IRCC's requirements and are CIP-aligned on the International Programs page.
If I change programs, do I need to amend my study permit?

If you’re changing between post-secondary programs but studying at the same institution, you can keep studying with your current study permit as long as you still meet your study permit conditions.
