Building a Place Where Everyone Belongs: CNC Launches EDIB Strategy

    • All Campuses
  • April 1, 2026

The College of New Caledonia is proud to launch its Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging (EDIB) Strategy, an important and meaningful step forward for our college community. This strategy represents years of thoughtful work, listening, and learning. It reflects the voices, experiences, and aspirations of students, employees, and community partners who believe in creating a place where everyone feels valued and supported.

At its heart, the EDIB Strategy is about belonging. It is a shared commitment to ensure that every person who learns, teaches, or works at CNC feels seen, respected, and empowered to succeed.

The strategy is guided by six key priorities. First, we will structurally integrate EDIB into all areas of the college, embedding these principles into how we operate and make decisions. Second, we will advance policy review and development to ensure our practices are fair, inclusive, and responsive. Third, we will strengthen Indigenous engagement, honouring relationships with First Nations communities and supporting meaningful reconciliation.
We will also focus on institutional learning, creating opportunities for ongoing education, reflection, and growth. Recognizing the importance of intersectionality, we will ensure that diverse and overlapping identities are understood and supported. Finally, we are committed to improving accessibility, removing barriers so that everyone can fully participate in the CNC experience.

This strategy is not a final destination; it is a foundation. It will guide our actions, shape our culture, and hold us accountable as we move forward together.

Launching the EDIB Strategy is a moment to be proud of. It signals our commitment to building a college where everyone truly belongs, and where that sense of belonging is reflected in everything we do.
