All You Need to Know to Attend Your Ceremony
Caring for your Cap and Gown
- Hang your gown to help release any wrinkles.
- Do not wash, machine dry, or use a hot iron on the gown.
- You may lightly steam your gown if necessary.
Arriving at the CN Centre:
- Arrive between 11:00 am – 12:30 pm wearing your cap and gown. Late arrivals may not be allowed to participate.
- Grads enter through the designated entrance to the right of the main doors (follow signs). Guests use the main entrance and remain on the concourse level.
- Check in at the table with your last name’s first letter to receive your name card and assigned seat number.
- Grad seating is on the floor in front of the stage. Ushers and signs will help guide you.
- Water dispensers and washrooms are located on the lower level.
What to bring
It is recommended that you bring a refillable water bottle and snack as there will be no food provided until after the ceremony.
Note: Leave valuables, bags, or jackets with a guest in attendance. There is no storage is provided.
Crossing the Stage
- Wait for your program to be called.
- When called, approach the stage from the right, staying in your seated order.
- Hand your name card to the reader. If you’re the last graduate in your program, also hand in the red card provided to you.
- Go up the ramp, receive your folder from the President, and pause for a photo.
- Exit down the left ramp and receive your CNC Alumni gift.
- Return to your seat and remain seated until the ceremony ends.
- At the end of the ceremony, marshals will guide you out to meet your family and friends. Enjoy cupcakes and photo ops on the upper concourse after the ceremony.
Note: As a courtesy to your fellow graduates, please remain seated on the floor until the ceremony concludes. Leaving early is considered disrespectful to others who are still crossing the stage.
If you choose to leave, re-entry will not be permitted.
Participate in the Ceremony
- Arrive early to take advantage of photo opportunities found around the upper concourse and outside (weather permitting).
- Share photos of yourself using one of CNC’s snapchat filters.
- Participate in CNC’s “Add Yours” sticker on Instagram for a chance to win a custom CNC sweater. Find more information about on CNC’s Instagram story on June 5th and view the Terms and Conditions. Find us on Instagram at @collegeofnewcaledonia.

- Fill out CNC’s “Add Yours” template and win!
- On Convocation Day (June 5th or June 10th), complete the prompts on our Instagram story to win an exclusive CNC sweater.

To enter to win an exclusive CNC Sweater
- Use CNC’s official “Add Yours” story template. This template will be made available on June 5, 2025 at 8:30am.
- Post 6 unique photos from Convocation at the CN Centre, including
- A photo at Convocation
- A selfie at Convocation
- The Convocation stage
- A cupcake during the Convocation Reception
- Your Alumni keychain
- The balloon toss at the end of the Convocation ceremony
- Tag @collegeofnewcaledonia and post to your Instagram story.
Note: You must tag CNC for your entry to count.
Limit one entry per person. The first 30 students to complete the prompt and tag CNC will be contacted about next steps for obtaining the sweater.
Terms and Conditions
Information for Guests
- Guests are welcome to attend and do not require a ticket. Please be aware that we will be adhering to all policies and guidelines at CN Centre.
- Free parking is available at CN Centre.
- Doors open for guests at 12:00 pm. The ceremony will begin promptly at 1:00.
- Guests are not permitted in the lower level of the CN Centre.
- Wheelchair accessible seating is available in sections V,W,X. It is recommended that you arrive early if you require special seating.
- All guest seating is first-come, first-served.
- The concession will be open for purchasing food and non-alcoholic beverages.
- For those who can’t attend in person, the ceremony will also be live streamed. Find the live stream at cnc.bc.ca/convocation.
