The Nursing Advisor at CNC is available to help current students throughout their program. Our academic advisors strive to provide information and support related to the Nursing program that will assist you in making choices leading to academic and personal achievement.  

Make an appointment with a Nursing Advisor if:

  • You need help with choosing electives
  • You have transfer credits from another institution
  • You want to take a course at a different institute
  • You need to withdraw or take a leave from the program
  • You are a returning student
  • You have questions about the program or academic resources

Meet the Requirements

You must ensure you meet the course prerequisite and co-requisite requirements before enrolling in courses. Requisites are listed with each course description in the Academic Calendar. You must achieve a minimum grade of C- in order to use a course for credit in the degree.

Take Courses in Sequence

Taking courses as scheduled within the program of study promotes content integration and optimal learning outcomes. Therefore, most courses must be taken in sequence and are prerequisites for progression through the terms.

Pre- Booked Appointments

Booked appointments are up to 30 minutes long and can be in person or over the phone. It is best to plan an appointment in advance, as typically there is a one week wait for a booked appointment. You can book an appointment up to two weeks in advance.

Same Day Appointments

Same day academic advising appointments are available daily and are 30 minutes long. These appointments can be virtual, in person, or over the phone. We recommend calling as early as 8:30am to book a same day appointment, as spaces are limited. Please call 250-561-5818 to book a time

CICan Paul and Gerri Charette Bursary Program

Event Details

Event Description

The CICan Paul and Gerri Charette Bursary Program aims to provide financial support to college and institute students that demonstrate financial need and who often face greater challenges and barriers to participate and complete post-secondary education. CICan college and institute members are invited to nominate a student. Students are also able to apply themselves.

Eligibility: The student is enrolled full time in the first or second year of a multi-year program at a CICan member institution. The student must be a Canadian citizen, landed immigrant, permanent resident, or a protected person. The student must demonstrate financial need.

Amount: Students from or attending colleges or institutes in rural, remote, or northern areas will be given preference for the 10 bursaries of up to $5,000 each.

How to apply: students must email finaid@cnc.bc.ca by October 16th with the following information:

Full name, student number, and program of study

  • Three (3) letters of support from people who know the applicant. This can include a past or current employer, a teacher, a college administrator, a member of a community or campus organization, someone involved in student services, or a faculty member.  The letters must include the full name, organization name and contact information for the person writing the letter. 
  • An essay (max of 10,000 characters) describing the impact that the bursary will have on the student’s ability to attend college.  The essay must include a focus on each of the following topics: 
    • Financial need – a demonstration of the financial impact that this bursary would have 
    • Challenges and barriers to attending a college or institute – a demonstration of how the bursary will help eliminate challenges or barriers to participating in and completing their education 
    • Community involvement – include any volunteering, service, work, and involvement in the community
