DESCRIPTION:

This course explores and examines global trends and challenges in tourism fields. Globalization influences, changes of traveling patterns, industry employment and destination development trends. Highlights in this course include selected sustainable tourism, destination marketing trends, MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferencing, Exhibitions) industry, global events, Indigenous tourism and current tourism issues. Students analyze the economic, socio-cultural and environmental impact in which international business operates, including causes and consequences of globalization. At the end of the semester, students gain an understanding of the complex nature of the tourism industry.
