Northern British Columbians looking to develop, upgrade, or transition their skills to high-demand jobs can unlock their potential at CNC via the StrongerBC future skills grant program.

This is the second year that CNC is supporting learners with funded education through the provincial grant. Last year, the College registered 115 students, helping them access high-quality and relevant training opportunities in high-demand fields.

Eligible individuals can receive up to $3,500 to help cover tuition fees for select programs and courses. Registration is now open for programs and courses starting in the fall and winter of 2024. CNC has posted future skills grant information here along with sign up information.

“CNC’s programs and courses are responsive to the needs of learners in the communities we serve and the changing world of work. The future skills grant is an excellent opportunity for anyone in B.C. to develop foundational skills that can help them succeed in different industries,” said Harish Gautam, CNC business instructor of ABCs of Digital Marketing, one of the programs eligible for the future skills grant.

CNC’s learning opportunities include in-person or online delivery, making it easier for people to find training that fits their busy schedules. CNC’s program and course offerings will include the following areas:
  • business and management, including project management, bookkeeping, management skills, and digital marketing;
  • health care and trades, including cooking essentials, medical office assistant, dental office receptionist, medical terminology, first aid, and;
  • language & culture, including Indigenous cultural competency in health care, and Dakelh language introduction.

B.C. is taking action to create jobs, train people to work in high-opportunity fields, and support businesses to adapt and grow. The StrongerBC future skills grant helps British Columbians aged 19 years or older – regardless of financial need – to cover the cost of micro-credential training for in-demand jobs delivered by public post-secondary institutions throughout the province.

The $3,500 in future skills grant funding per student helps College of New Caledonia students boost their skills by getting the training they need for their current employment or to upgrade for a better-paying job,” said Lisa Beare, Minister of Post-Secondary Education and Future Skills. “This is an example of government removing financial barriers to success. I look forward to British Columbians taking advantage of this opportunity and building a stronger future for themselves, their families, and their communities.“
