International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia, and Biphobia

by Lakeysha (oneilll3) | May 17, 2022

Please join me in marking the International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia, and Biphobia across CNC’s campuses.

This international day was created in 2004. It is observed on May 17th because the World Health Organization declassified homosexuality as a mental disorder on May 17th, 1990.

According to the United Nations Population Fund, more than a third of all countries continue to criminalize same-sex relationships.

We must constantly work to build a more inclusive and welcoming organization. It’s part of CNC’s strategic plan and values, but it’s also simply the right thing to do.

Anyone who wishes to learn or work at CNC will be welcomed and respected in doing so. This includes ensuring we are a safe community of learning that welcomes diverse sexual orientations, gender identities, and gender expressions.

I ask you to join me in marking this important day, and in considering the steps you can take to learn more about and show your support for diversity of gender identities and expressions as well as sexual orientations and characteristics.
