DESCRIPTION:

This course focuses on the use of professional interpersonal skills when interacting with patients, teams, community, and interprofessional healthcare partners. Topics covered include effective communication techniques, motivation and learning styles, problem solving, and conflict resolution. Students will be introduced to principles of teaching and learning. Focus will be placed on motivation and patient education through various communication techniques. Health/communication educational theories will be explored with consideration given to cultural sensitivity and equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility.
