Network upgrades continue across several CNC campuses. Work includes cabling, architectural updates, and scheduled cutovers that may cause brief outages or limited access in some areas.

Network disruptions are not expected but may happen during key transitions. Please be mindful of narrower routes and posted signage. Please follow all signage and coordinate with Facilities if access is needed.

Expected Impacts:
🔊 Noise: Elevated noise levels.
🚧 Access: No planned closures or reroutes. Corridors will remain open but may be partially cordoned off for construction. Please go around construction areas.
🖥️ Network: Disruptions are not anticipated. Although unlikely, unplanned interruptions may occur.

About the Project
CNC is working to bring you a better-connected campus. By upgrading core networking infrastructure and replacing outdated systems, the College is future proofing its digital environment for students, staff, and faculty at all CNC campuses. These improvements reflect CNC’s commitment to rejuvenating infrastructure as part of our institutional goals.
The Network Renewal Project aligns with CNC’s Strategic Plan (lhulh whuts’odutel’eh – Learning Together) under Priority 3.5: Rejuvenate College Infrastructure. This project supports long-term goals to strengthen connectivity, enhance access to digital tools, and create a more connected experience across all CNC campuses.
Key Highlights of the Project
- Funded by the Ministry of Infrastructure
- Upgraded network infrastructure
- Better Wi-Fi coverage, faster speeds, and improved reliability
- All Wi-Fi Access Points are being replaced and updated
- Alignment with institutional goals to enhance technology and infrastructure
Project Timeline
- April 2023: Campus-wide Wi-Fi access point replacements done
- June 2024: Eduroam Wi-Fi network officially launched
- Fall 2024: Network Design
- May 2025: Pre-Construction Phase
- June 16, 2025: Construction Begins
- July 6, 2025: After-hours concrete cutting in 200 and 300 Blocks (All levels). Installation of new cabling in the 100 Block (all levels) and 900 block.
- July 27, 2025: Cabling in 100 Block is done.
- August 4, 2025: Work in common and unoccupied areas across the whole Prince George campus started.
- August 18, 2025: Ethernet and fiber cabling work started in the 400 and 700 Block
- August 25, 2025: Ethernet and fiber cabling work started in the 500 Block
- September 20, 2025: Network cutover in the 100 Block
- September 22, 2025: Work started at the Quesnel campus.
- September 27, 2025: Network cutover in the 300 Block (2nd and 3rd floors) 8am-4pm
- October 4, 2025: Network cutover in the 300 Block (1st floor) Prince George 8am-4pm
- October 8, 2025: Network upgrade in the 500 Block Prince George, all floors
- October 17,2025: Work on 200 Block 3rd floor and 400 Block Prince George completed
- October 18, 2025: Network cutover in the 400 Block Prince George
- October 25, 2025: Network cutover in the 700 Block (1st floor) Prince George
- November 8, 2025: Network cutover in the 700 Block (CCE & Bookstore) and 200 Block (3rd Floor) Prince George 8am- 4pm

- November 17 – December 2,2025: Rolling network cutover work in the Quesnel campus started

Impact on Campus
As the Network Renewal Project progresses into construction, you may experience temporary disruptions, including brief outages, reduced connectivity, and equipment installation in your area. These interruptions will vary by location and timing.
We understand these disruptions may be inconvenient. Every effort will be made to keep them as brief and localized as possible. Advance notices and updates will be shared regularly.
