    Why It Matters

From coursework platforms to campus Wi-Fi, your data is always in use. Protecting it helps prevent identity theft and ensures safer online experiences.

Quick Tips to Protect Your Data

    • Check Privacy Settings: Adjust app and platform settings regularly.

    • Be Wi-Fi Smart: Avoid public networks for sensitive tasks unless using a VPN.

    • Use Strong Passwords: Choose unique passwords and enable two-factor authentication.

    • Think Before Sharing: Limit what personal info you share online.

    Privacy and AI

When generative AI tools are used to support mental health, they collect sensitive data without clear consent. It’s crucial to review privacy settings on AI-driven platforms and use these tools responsibly. Balancing the benefits of AI with privacy protection ensures that you use generative AI tools to help your mental health and personal information stay secure. Know when to use generative AI and when to seek human support.

    Take Control of Your Data

Keep track of your digital footprint, use secure passwords, and opt out of unnecessary data sharing. Simple habits go a long way.

    How to Avoid Scams

    • Ignore unsolicited requests for personal info.

    • Verify links and senders before clicking.

    • Watch for red flags like urgent demands or too-good-to-be-true offers. Report suspicious activity to campus IT.

    • When making new friends online, watch for sudden changes in behavior and demands for money or account access.

    Take Charge

Small actions can protect your data and keep it secure.
