June
marks Pride Month, and celebrations will take place in communities and at the
College. I would like to share some thoughts with you as we reflect on Pride
and its positive impact throughout our College community.
I often
turn to our lhulh whuts’odutel’eh | Learning Together strategic plan in helping
to explain how we want CNC to advance over time. We made certain to include
fostering collaboration, diversity, and inclusion into the plan. Notably, the
plan calls for us to promote equity and social justice through college
processes, practices, programming, training, and supports.
I look at
the College community as a place where we all have our opportunity to excel; to
find our passion and purpose; and to build our networks, communities, and relationships.
I see Pride reflected in our values of respect, integrity, and relationships.
Pride at
CNC is about building a culture of acceptance and respect, where all members of
the College community can be safe to be who they are. While we may mark a month
of celebration, this is a daily goal for us: to make sure anyone who wants to
be part of the CNC community is welcome.
I welcome
and encourage your participation in Pride activities. Thank you to the Prince
George campus Pride sub-committee which will organize the Get the Scoop on
Pride event on Tuesday June 27th. You can find more on the college’s events page.
