The College of New Caledonia’s (CNC) Intersession course offering is expanding across all six of its campuses this May through the use of Digital Delivery Instruction (DDI) technology.
CNC’s intersession semester will, for the first time, use DDI to bring students from Prince George, Quesnel, Burns Lake, Vanderhoof, Mackenzie and Fort St. James together into the same classroom.
“Historically, enrolment might not have been strong enough to sustain these courses at each campus,” said Chad CNC Acting Executive Vice President of Academic. “With DDI, enrolment numbers can be achieved by collecting students from all six campuses into one section.”
Unlike other online methods of delivery, DDI offers students an immersive learning experience by connecting them across CNC’s 117,500 square kilometre service area through the use of responsive cameras and microphones.
“Students benefit greatly when they are able to study where they live,” said CNC President Henry Reiser. “Using this innovative and immersive delivery technology, students are be able to take a wider array of courses in their own community.”
CNC’s intersession semester offers seven courses through DDI, including:
• BIO 105: Basic Microbiology
• BIO 112: Anatomy and Physiology II
• BIO 130: Anatomy and Physiology for Practical Nurse
• COMM 222: Management and Organizational Behaviour
• ENGL 103: Composition and Style
• MATH 103: Finite Mathematics
• PSYC 209: Introduction to Biological Psychology
