Event Description

Indigenous Culture Days is a week-long celebration of Indigenous creativity, culture, and community at the Burns Lake campus.

From March 24 - 27, campus and community members are invited to participate in a Metis wellness workshop, experience Indigenous art, and connect with and support talented local Indigenous artists and makers.

4th Annual Indigenous Artist Showcase

Viewing & Voting: Tuesday, March 24 to Friday, March 27, 2026

Throughout the week, the Burns Lake campus will feature Indigenous-themed artwork created by local artists and CNC students. Community members are invited to view the exhibit and vote for their favourite piece.

Art mediums may include drums, beadwork, carvings, clothing pieces, quilts, paintings, and other handmade cultural works.

📣Call for Indigenous Artists

Are you a local Indigenous artist or CNC student ready to share your work? We invite you to submit ONE Indigenous-themed piece for display during Indigenous Culture Days.

This is your opportunity to:

  • Showcase your creativity to campus and community
  • Gain visibility for your work
  • Compete for exciting prizes

All mediums are welcome. Submission deadline details available upon inquiry.

MIYEUYHTUM: Uplift – Métis Health & Wellness Workshop

About the Workshop: Miyeuyhtum: Uplift – Métis Health & Wellness is a culturally grounded workshop designed to explore identity, balance, and well-being through Métis teachings and connection.

Participants will:
• Explore Métis identity and cultural wellness
• Learn about balance through Medicine Wheel teachings
• Create their own leather Métis medicine pouch
• Reflect on personal wellness through culturally rooted activities

This workshop offers a safe, welcoming, and engaging space to strengthen mental, emotional, spiritual, and social well-being. It supports curiosity, confidence, and reconnection while reinforcing that Métis people belong, their experiences matter, and their well-being is worth nurturing.

The Métis Nation British Columbia Regional & Youth Mental Wellness Coordinators will be available to build connections, offer guidance, and help bridge participants to wellness resources.

The STEPS (Education) Ministry will also be onsite to share information about education funding opportunities and available supports.

Food & Prizes

Enjoy fresh pastries during break and a catered lunch provided by award-winning Indigenous caterers, Top of the Line Catering.

Door prizes include:
• Two large gift baskets
• One Grand Prize draw to win a pair of Manitobah Mukluks (tall white pair)

4th Annual Indigenous Artisan Market

Date: Friday, March 27, 2026 | Time: 10:00am – 4:00pm
Everyone is welcome to attend.

Join us for a vibrant market featuring talented local Indigenous artisans showcasing and selling handcrafted, one-of-a-kind creations. Shop beadwork, ribbon skirt kits, natural beauty products, Devil’s club jewelry, handmade candles, and more. ‘Braids by Ness’ will be onsite offering hair braiding by donation.

Are you an Indigenous artisan interested in selling your work at our market? Vendor applications are now open for the 4th Annual Indigenous Artisan Market. To participate, vendors must be Indigenous and sells Indigenous products, arts, crafts, or handmade goods.

Spaces are limited and filled on a first-come basis. There is NO table charge and NO entry fee.
