Event Description

Join us for a week filled with cultural exploration and celebration at CNC! International Week is Monday, November 17 – Friday, November 21, 2025.  

This week is designed to showcase and celebrate the incredible diversity that makes the campus vibrant and unique. Engage in cultural activities, connect with students from around the world, and broaden your perspectives through food and traditions.  

Students and staff are encouraged to bring or wear items that proudly showcase their cultures.  

Participate in events happening throughout the week, add a message to the board in the Gathering Place, and check out the book display in the Learning Commons.  

Event Schedule:  

Monday, November 17 

Time: 11:00am – 1:00pm 
Location: Gathering Place 
Join Two Rivers Art Gallery for a creative art experience.  

Time: 11:00am – 12:00pm 
Location: Aboriginal Resource Centre (1-773) 
Take part in a Talking Circle with Indigenous Wholistic Support, Michael Antoine.  

Tuesday, November 18

Time: 11:30am – 1:00pm 
Location: Cafeteria 
Take a break and join International Education for Pizza and Bingo! Enjoy lunch, have fun, and connect with other students.   

Wednesday, November 19  

Time: 11:00am – 1:00pm 
Location: Gathering Place
Experience cultures from around the world through food, art, and activities. Enjoy global flavours, hands-on experiences, and creative expression as you celebrate the diversity of the CNC community. 

Activities Include: 

  • Henna tattoos 

  • Dot painting

  • “Turban Up” experience 

  • Photo booth 

  • Learn to write 'Hello' in different languages 

  • Chinese calligraphy 

  • Origami 

  • Buddha boards 

  • Cuisines from around the world 

Thursday, November 20

Time: 12:00pm – 1:30pm  
Location:Cafeteria
Join us for a workshop with Sapphire Woods (they/them), a community-based researcher, cultural worker, and non-binary trans person of Trinidadian heritage. Sapphire will explore African and Afro-diasporic expressions of gender diversity in history and folklore, as well as gender expression across East, South, and West Asia. 

Time: 2:00pm – 3:00pm  
Location: Learning Commons 
Explore a living library of students and staff who will highlight different aspects of their cultures. Stop by to chat, listen, and celebrate the richness of cultural diversity.  

Presenters:  

  • Miley Yang on the role of tea in Chinese culture  

  • Arti Kadekar on the role of henna in Indian culture  

  • Sapphire Woods on gender expression and transgender identities in African and Caribbean cultures  

  • Ignacio Albarracin on the importance of soccer in Argentine culture
