DESCRIPTION:

This course will introduce students to the application of ethical theory to moral issues. The readings will illustrate the main types of considerations that have historically been advanced to support answers to moral questions, leaving us to determine which types of considerations should have over others. Examining a variety of moral issues will reveal the need for a comprehensive ethical theory on order to answer different moral questions consistently and also the difficulty of constructing such a theory whithout prior answers to at least some moral questions.
