CNC Graduates Welcomed into National Forestry Community at Silver Ring Ceremony

    • April 1, 2026

On March 20, students from the College of New Caledonia (CNC) were formally welcomed into Canada’s forestry community through the Canadian Institute of Forestry (CIF-IFC) Silver Ring Ceremony. The event recognizes graduates from forestry-focused programs and marks an important milestone as they begin their careers in the sector.

The CIF-IFC Silver Ring is a national symbol that connects graduates across Canada, uniting them in a shared commitment to stewardship, professionalism, and ethical practice. Worn on the little finger of the working hand, with the engraved maple leaf pointing forward, the ring represents growth in responsibility and a dedication to sustainable forestry practices. It also serves as a reminder of each recipient’s obligation to uphold the Institute’s Code of Ethics.

This year’s CNC recipients include May Brinkhurst, Lindsay Clermont, Aaron Colebank, Trevor Douglas, Aiden Erickson, Austin Erickson, Zachary Forrester, Weston Hadfield, Brendan James, Elisa Mcewen-Gomez Tagle, Conor McNaul, Jordis Smith, Celine Stiffler, Kieran W. Thomas, Carah Vienneau, and Hadlee Wiebe.

The ceremony reflects both the accomplishments of CNC students and their entry into a respected, nation-wide community of forestry practitioners.
