The beginning of a new term is one of the highlights of the school year at CNC. As September approaches, CNC campuses are gearing up to welcome new and returning students through a broad range of orientation activities and events.
Fall Orientation Week kicks off with a New Student Welcome on September 3 and runs to September 6. Throughout the week, students will have a chance to meet CNC staff and faculty, explore their local campus, and connect with fellow students through a mix of fun and informative activities.
“CNC’s Fall Orientation Week means the return of students, faculty and community at our campuses”, says Shelley Carter-Rose, Vice President Student Affairs/Interim Vice President Academic. “I’m grateful to all student volunteers and employees for giving more than 1,000 new students a memorable and positive introduction to CNC and making them feel prepared and excited for the academic year ahead.”
Both Prince George and Quesnel kickoff orientation events will include a campus welcome, tours, and a barbecue, with extended student events continuing through September.
CNC Students’ Union (CNCSU) representatives will also be on site to share information about student life, clubs, recreational activities, and their members' lounge.
“New student orientation is more than just an introduction to campus life—it's the foundation of your journey here at CNC. It's a chance to build connections, discover resources, and set the tone for your entire academic experience”, says Leila Abubakar-Depenau, Executive Director – CNC Student’s Union (CNCSU). “I encourage every student to embrace this opportunity, especially by participating in CNCSU Day on September 4. Join us and be part of a vibrant community that will provide you with friendships, support, and a strong voice throughout your time here. Let's make the most of September's orientation events and start this exciting chapter together.”
CNC is encouraging all new students to
RSVP for the New Student Welcome in Prince George. There will be no regular classes on September 3 until 5:00pm, excluding specific trades and technologies programs that began in August.
The first cohort of Grade 11 and 12 students starting the
TekX: Technology Exploration dual credit program this September were invited together with their parents and caregivers for an
orientation session on August 28.
During Orientation Week, students will also learn about important CNC services, supports and resources available to them through on-campus orientation activities and online webinars. These supports, including financial aid and awards, accessibility services, and academic advising are designed to ease the transition into post-secondary education.
For more information and a detailed schedule of orientation events for the different CNC campuses, visit the
Orientation web page. Students who complete the
Online Orientation by September 16 will be entered to win a $500 tuition credit.
