For the fall semester (September – December),
CNC’s Dental Hygiene program is accepting new adult clinic patients to get preventative dental care.
With a low-cost and flat fee of $50, the clinic is a great option for people with limited or no dental insurance. Dental students provide the services, supervised by licensed, experienced dental practitioners.
“We pride ourselves in having an outstanding reputation for educating skilled dental professionals”, says Diane Horita, senior clinic lead. “Students are actively involved in our dental clinic where they get the opportunity to work with various population groups and oral health care needs. Our clinic creates an accessible and welcoming space for learning and community service.”
The CNC dental clinic offers services ranging from comprehensive dental hygiene care to single procedures such as fissure sealants, full mouth series of x-rays, panorex, and sports guards. The clinic does not provide any restorative dentistry services such as fillings or dentures, or emergency dental treatment.
“We appreciate our clinic patients for their time commitment and support as they help us expand our skillset and fulfill our requirements for graduation”, says Anisha Mahtani, a second-year dental hygiene student. “It’s a great and fulfilling learning experience to provide care, educate our patients on dental hygiene and see the state of their oral health improve over time.”
The length of time for dental hygiene services will depend upon how long people have been away from professional oral care and what their treatment needs are. Clinic patients can expect to stay for approximately 2 to 3 hours each visit. Multiple appointments will be required for most services.
The CNC dental clinic runs from September through early May and is closed on statuary holidays and over Christmas. Clinic times vary each semester depending on course scheduling. New patients can register for an appointment by email or by calling 250-561-5810 (voicemail available for callbacks).
