On February 24th, the Russian military presence around Ukraine escalated into an invasion and unprovoked war. Global leaders including Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and B.C. Premier John Horgan have condemned this unjust war. Like many of you, I am shocked and concerned about the invasion of Ukraine by Russia. The repercussions of the attack are reverberating around the world. I join others in our community and across Canada in condemning the attack and calling for an end to this conflict.
This latest development comes as we continue to grapple with the disruptions and consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic. It is completely understandable to be feeling anxious or worried about these developments, and how they may affect those in Ukraine as well as family members or friends close to the situation. I also am mindful of how these events may impact students who have joined us from other nations that may be close to the conflict.
