On behalf of the CNC community, I wish to express our collective sorrow regarding the discovery of the remains of 215 children at the former Kamloops Indian Residential School. I also offer our support for those in the communities we serve who face renewed grief and loss from the tragedy.

The Tk’emlúps te Secwépemc First Nation has confirmed the presence of remains at the site of the former residential school, which operated from 1890 to 1969. Many individuals from the region served by CNC would have attended the school. The legacy of residential schools continues to affect survivors and families and has caused intergenerational trauma.
