    In B.C. 77 per cent of job openings in the next 10 years will require some form of post-secondary education.

    For many students, the length of program and job prospects are top priorities. That’s why we’ve listed eight CNC programs that get you the education you need for high demand careers in one year or less.

    1. Dental Assistant Certificate:

    2. Health Care Assistant Certificate

      Healthcare is a dynamic industry continuing to experience growth. CNC’s Health Care Assistant Certificate provides students with the skills to succeed in a career the Government of B.C. is rapidly working to expand. The fully sponsored program is open to health care support workers employed with Northern Health or other approved health care employer in the region CNC serves. If you’re interested in becoming a health care assistant but don’t currently work for Northern Health, follow these steps to apply.

      • Length of Study: one year
      • Estimated Fees: $4,614
      • Median Hourly Rate: $21.62

    3. Medical Office Assistant Associate Certificate

      Health and Wellness Centre PG 1

      The Medical Office Assistant is a dynamic and vital role on medical office teams. They perform administrative and clinical tasks to ensure offices and clinics of physicians, chiropractors, podiatrists and other health professionals run smoothly. CNC’s Medical Administrative Assistant Associate Certificate offers students industry knowledge from practicing professionals and hands-on practical learning.

      • Length of Study: six months or less
      • Estimated Fees: $3,656 + fees and books
      • Provincial Median Hourly Rate: $23

    4. Medical Device Reprocessing Technician Associate Certificate

      Medical Device Reprocessing 3

      Healthcare, as a whole, must work together to work at all. An essential part of that system is the organization, decontamination, and sterilization of medical instruments in hospitals and clinics. That is the job of the Medical Device Reprocessing (MDR) Technician.

      CNC’s program provides students with the knowledge and ability to safely and correctly operate a variety of equipment used in MDR.

    5. Nursing Unit Assistant Certificate

      The Nursing Unit Assistant (NUA) plays a pivotal role ensuring the successful functioning of nursing units and clinical settings. CNC’s certificate program offers students classroom and supported practical placements providing knowledge about different types of physician’s orders, policies, ethical standards and duties that encompass the NUA role.

    6. Applied Business Technology Certificate

      Administrative assistants are in high demand in a wide variety of roles and environments. With plenty of opportunities to grow and develop, administrative assistants perform tasks ranging from data entry, record keeping, and customer service all the way to managing day-to-day operations of entire offices or teams of people, making sure important activities run smoothly.

    7. Pipe Trade

      Pipe Trades PG 2

      This foundation program is four trades rolled into one. Students receive a mix of hands-on and classroom training to gain entry level practical skills and academic knowledge preparing the apprenticeship pathway as either a plumber, steamfitter/pipefitter, or a sprinkler system installer.

    8. Education Assistant Certificate

      With an Education Assistant Certificate, you’ll be prepared to work as a teacher’s aide or education assistant, providing assistance to children with disabilities in school settings. CNC’s flexible, online format makes the EA training accessible for all students, regardless of where they live or what their schedule is.
