Your safety is our top priority as you return to classes this fall. This is a shared responsibility, and I want to tell you more about what you can expect.

CNC’s safety plan

Following provincial direction and with the help of the entire CNC community, we developed an organizational safety plan to help you remain safe while the COVID-19 pandemic continues.

What’s changed?

Most of our programming is on-line to ensure you can keep learning even if we can’t bring large groups together. We are bringing small groups students to our campuses for labs and hands-on instruction when required.

For people arriving on campuses, you will see new COVID-19 signage to give you direction and help you maintain physical distancing. New hand hygiene stations are in place. In locations for face-to-face instruction, we have developed procedures based on the unique needs of each program.

Our shared responsibility for keeping safe

While we have taken every possible precaution as a college, we need your help to respect the excellent health direction that leaders like Dr. Bonnie Henry have provided us.

I’m asking for your help to keep yourself, your loved ones, fellow students, faculty and operational staff safe. First please complete your safety training as part of the CNC new and returning student orientation. In general, please ensure you take the following steps:

  • Do not come to a CNC campus if you have symptoms of COVID-19 (fever, cough, shortness of breath). Stay home, self-isolate right away, and seek medical attention;
  • Keep two meters between yourself and others at all times; and
  • Please clean your hands regularly with soap and water for 20 seconds, or use alcohol-based hand rub.

We are also strongly recommending anyone at a CNC campus wears a non-medical cloth or disposable mask or face covering in all common areas on campus. Please note a mask does not replace your responsibility to keep physical distancing, clean your hands, and stay home if you’re sick.

In closing

We are in this together, and have to be responsible for the safety of one another.

We will adapt the safety plan as new research about COVID-19 becomes available, and will share new information in a timely way.

Stay safe and be well.

Your voice is important
