Financial Assistance for Domestic Students
The Ministry of Advanced Education Skills & Training announced emergency funding supports for domestic students. All British Columbia post-secondary institutions received a message that they will have a one-time financial aid program to support domestic students who have been affected by the COVID 19 pandemic. Each year the Ministry does provide an emergency student relief fund, in addition to the annual fund there is a significant investment to support students in their well-being so they can achieve their academic goals during this uncertain time.
CNC’s Financial Aid & Awards team have worked hard in developing a form and process for students to apply for financial assistance. Please save and then fill out the application here. Please fill out the application and send to finaid@cnc.bc.ca.
All applications will be adjudicated to determine eligibility. On approval, a cheque will be processed and mailed within 5-7 business days upon receipt of your application.
Financial Assistance for International and Out of Province Students at CNC
While the government investment was earmarked for domestic students only, College administration at CNC have identified an emergency fund for international and out of province students. At CNC we support all our students. CNC staff have worked with the CNC Students’ Union to administer a similar process for both international and out of province students. Please save and then fill out the application here.. Please fill out the application and send toaid@cncsu.ca. On approval an electronic transfer will be processed within 5-7 business days upon receipt of your application.
Here2Talk Counselling for Post-Secondary Students
The Government of British Columbia has launched Here2Talk, a new mental health counselling and referral service for post-secondary students.
The service offers confidential, free single-session services by app, phone or online chat, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
For the first time, every student in B.C. has access to 24/7 mental-health services whether the students are rural, urban, domestic, indigenous, international, public, private, full-time, part time or in trades training. Here2Talk will complement other supports on campus and in the community, including new virtual mental-health supports announced April 9, 2020, by the Ministry of Mental Health and Addictions.
Chat sessions with a trained counsellor can be accessed by downloading the Here2Talk app or visiting here2talk.ca
Students can speak to a counsellor by phone, toll free at 1 877 857-3397 or direct 604 642-5212. Students calling from outside Canada can dial 1 604 642-5212 (international calling charges may apply).
