In an effort to improve safety, the College of New Caledonia (CNC) has made changes to the speed limit, signage and traffic patterns on its Prince George campus.
Effective July 26, the speed limit in CNC parking lots and the access road on CNC’s campus – colloquially know as “college road” – is reduced from 30 km/h to 15 km/h. CNC has also installed improved speed signage, added a new four-way stop, and changed the flow of traffic in CNC’s dental and daycare parking to one-way traffic only.
“CNC is committed to the safety of its students, employees, and faculty, as well as the general public who use this road regularly,” said Sylvie Stekelenburg, CNC Director of Safety & Security. “We’ve worked hard to identify solutions that will mitigate potential traffic hazards.”
Implementation of traffic pattern changes are a result of a collaboration between CNC’s Safety & Security department, Facilities department, and Occupational Health & Safety committee. Further changes are expected to roll out over the next year.
