Join us for three exciting days of celebration, learning, and community at Indigenous Culture Days 2025 in CNC Burns Lake! All events are free to the public, and we’ll be offering amazing daily door prizes!
Event Highlights
March 19 - 21: Artist Showcase – Open to the public for viewing and voting
Catering by Top-of-the-Line Catering
Each day of the event will feature catering by Top-of-the-Line Catering, winner of the 2020 Indigenous Business Award for Outstanding Business Achievement.
Wednesday, March 19, 2025 - Viewing of Sugarcane Documentary
Sugarcane is a powerful tribute to the resilience of the Indigenous people of the Sugarcane First Nation community, located near Williams Lake, BC. Winner of the Golden Gate Award and the Sundance Film Festival’s 2024 Audience Award.
- 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM: Traditional salmon dinner and dessert
- 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM: Screening of Sugarcane documentary by Academy Award-winning producer Kellen Quinn and director Julian Brave Noisecat.
- 3:00 PM: Door prize draws
- Support available: Representatives from the Indian Residential School Survivor’s Society (IRSSS) will be onsite to offer support.
Thursday, March 20, 2025 – Lahal aka The Bone Game
Join us for an interactive session where you can learn about and play Lahal, a traditional Indigenous game, with expert guidance from Bruce Allan.
- 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM: Learn to play Lahal with CNC First Nations Studies Instructor Bruce Allan
- 12:00 PM - 12:40 PM: Trail Burgers, homemade soup, and dessert
- 12:45 PM - 3:00 PM: Play Lahal
- 3:00 PM: Door prize draws
Friday, March 21, 2025 – Indigenous Artisan Market
Explore unique Indigenous art and crafts while supporting local artisans. Everything at this event is free!
- 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM: Indigenous arts and crafts for sale
- Enjoy free breakfast items, including yogurt parfaits and muffins
- Delicious bannock dogs, popcorn, and Aspen Creek Cookies
- Candy bags for kids
- Door prizes throughout the day
Enjoy the vibrant culture, tasty food, and incredible giveaways while learning about Indigenous traditions and artistry. All events are free to attend and open to the public.
