DESCRIPTION:

This course introduces students to the field of human geography by exploring the spaces, places and patterns produced by human activity, and the processes that contribute to local and global changes. Specific topics covered will include population dynamics, cultural identities, rural and urban settlements, food and agriculture, economic activity, political geographies and the relationship between people and the environment. Special attention will be paid to the role that globalization plays in altering patterns of human activity at multiple scales.
