DESCRIPTION:

English 051 (an equivalent to English 050) prepares students for post-secondary academic English courses. It is designed for students to improve their writing, research, critical thinking and oral communication skills while learning about Indigenous perspectives, ways of knowing, and knowledge-sharing. Students study the history and current effects of contact and colonization and apply this context to oral and written literature by First Peoples, as well as to their research project. This course was developed with guidance and input from Indigenous community members in the CNC region.
