Recent achievements by a College of New Caledonia (CNC) alumna are highlighting the strength of CNC’s Human Resources programming, and the meaningful impact graduates are making in workplaces and communities across B.C.
When Paris Pishyari arrived in Canada as an international student, she already held a background in accounting, but it was at CNC where she discovered her passion for human resources.
Today, she is being recognized as one of the profession’s rising leaders.
Paris received a 2025 Spotlight Award from CPHR BC & Yukon at the Member Recognition Gala on February 2, 2026, in Vancouver, an honour that recognizes emerging HR professionals who demonstrate excellence, leadership, and commitment to advancing the field.
Her journey has been marked by determination and rapid growth. While completing her Human Resources studies at CNC, Paris began a practicum with Northern Health, quickly earning a full-time role before her practicum had even ended.
Within months, she advanced from HR Assistant to Classification Advisor, taking on complex responsibilities including job evaluations, compensation analysis, and resolving workplace grievances.
“If someone had told me four years ago that I would be here, I wouldn’t have believed it,” Paris reflected.

“CNC gave me the foundation, and the confidence, to keep growing.”
Her impact extends well beyond her day-to-day work. Paris actively mentors students and emerging professionals, supports CNC learners, and continues to invest in her own development through leadership and coaching programs.
Her former manager describes her as “a very committed individual” whose dedication to learning and service has strengthened both her team and the broader HR community.
For Paris, success isn’t just about career advancement—it’s about helping others find their path.
“I want to be a leader who supports people, especially those who feel stuck or unsure of what’s next. All challenges are temporary. With the right support, people can find their purpose.”
