The College of New Caledonia (CNC) is proud to announce that CNC student, Keith Balolong, has been awarded a $1000 scholarship by CPHR British Columbia & Yukon. Keith was selected as one of the winners of the HR Scholarships, alongside students from Okanagan College, Thompson Rivers University, and the University of Northern British Columbia.
Keith's journey into Human Resources (HR) began in the Philippines, where she worked as a remote executive assistant. Her interest in HR was sparked when a client asked her to set up a recruitment process for a startup. Inspired by a mentor in the HR field, Keith decided to pursue further education in HR at CNC, where her family resides.
This year, as the President of the HR Club at CNC, Keith led her team in organizing impactful activities, such as helping CNC students prepare resumes for the Northworks Career Fair. This community involvement was a key factor in her scholarship application.
Keith expressed gratitude for the support she received from CNC’s faculty, including Dean of Access & Continuing Education, Amelia Merrick, and Professor, Dr. Irina Doering, whose guidance helped the HR Club make a significant impact. Keith’s leadership and dedication have also led to her new role at Northern Health as an Internal Recruitment Assistant, a position she secured while still studying at CNC. Adding to her list of accomplishments, Keith is set to graduate this June.
Congratulations, Keith! Your achievements are a source of pride for the CNC community.
