CNC and the Faculty Association of CNC representing the college’s instructional staff have been negotiating for a new collective bargaining agreement under the Province’s Shared Recovery Mandate for the past several months.
The parties are currently engaged in meetings with a mediator from the Labour Relations Board, who is assisting the parties in their discussions.
Recently, we have been made aware the Faculty Association, which includes nearly 550 employees, has conducted a strike vote. This can be a normal step in the bargaining process.
The College and the Faculty Association are scheduled to continue bargaining with the mediator this week to reach a collective agreement that works for both the employees and the College.
All CNC classes, programs, and services are continuing at all campuses as our work towards a new collective agreement takes place.
Currently, just over 390,000 people are covered by
tentative and ratified agreements settled under the Shared Recovery Mandate – which is about 97 per cent of unionized employees in the provincial public sector.
