Careful before giving to the “CNC Jazz Program” (spoiler alert: there isn’t one)

The College of New Caledonia provides more than 80 programs, but jazz music is not among them.

CNC has received several reports of an individual selling chocolate bars door-to-door. They are allegedly raising funds for instruments for a jazz band program at the college.

CNC does not offer a jazz band program, nor does the college have one planned. CNC also does not raise funds through door-to-door solicitations.

The Prince George RCMP advises if you’re approached by someone raising funds for a charity, take their information. Then check with the charity in question before making a donation or a purchase.

You may also report suspected incidents of fraud to the RCMP’s non-emergency number at 250-561-3300.

If you are interested in giving to the college to support student awards and financial aid, you’re welcome to contact CNC at donors@cnc.bc.ca. We’d be happy to work with you.
