CNC is welcoming the community to campus for open house events, starting on March 1. Each campus will host their own event, giving a chance for prospective students, their families, and students who have already been accepted a chance to explore what CNC has to offer across Northern BC.

“We can’t wait to welcome community members to all our campuses,” shared Shelley Carter-Rose, CNC’s vice president of student affairs. “No matter where you are in the application process, attending an open house is a great way to create an initial connection and sense of belonging with the campus and faculty.”

CNC’s open house gives the public an opportunity to explore each campus to its fullest, including interactive course demonstrations, campus tours, and connecting with instructors and faculty members face-to-face. Attendees can also learn about the wide array of student supports at the college, such as: academic advising, accessibility supports, financial aid, resources and liaison for Indigenous students, student housing, admissions, and more.

“It’s very beneficial for students to learn what supports are available as early as possible,” continued Carter-Rose. “The transition into post-secondary requires some navigation and planning, but CNC’s network of supports can alleviate some of that stress. Learning about those services ahead of time can give students and their families a roadmap to follow and peace of mind.”

According to the 2022 BC Labour Market Outlook, the province is expected to have more than a million job openings in the next decade, with nearly 80 per cent of those job openings requiring some type of post-secondary education or training. CNC offers more than 90 programs across campuses to better prepare students to fill those positions.

“Post-secondary education sets students up for a brighter future and lasting careers,” said Dr. Dennis Johnson, CNC’s president and CEO. “Through the open houses across regions we serve, we hope to help students feel confident in choosing CNC, or that we introduce them to exciting opportunities that will forge their path to lifelong learning.”

Those who RSVP online by March 1, 2023 will be entered to win a $500 tuition credit, but advance registration is not required. Those who attend an open house will also have their application fee waved and be entered to win additional tuition vouchers.
