CNC will half-mast flags at the Prince George Campus today to mark Workers’ Mourning Day. I ask you to remember those killed or injured in workplaces or afflicted with industrial disease.
All of us at CNC have a special responsibility to promote safety… for those learning and working at our campuses, and for those who will go to placements in community settings, and for anyone graduating and joining a workplace.
Our shared responsibility for safety involves the efforts of our safety and security staff, the joint health and safety committees at CNC’s six campuses, and all employees who diligently support the safety of students and colleagues.
Please take time today to consider your role in maintaining a safe work environment, and how you can support others in that vital goal. I also hope you can remember those you may know who died or were injured in the workplace.
Please note a wreath laying ceremony and moment of silence will take place in Prince George. The North Central Labour Council is organizing the event. It will happen at 10am at the Worker’s Memorial Statue located at Patricia Boulevard and Queensway. A virtual ceremony will also take place at dayofmourning.bc.ca. You can also leave a note honouring a fallen worker at that website.
