Wednesday February 23rd will mark Anti-Bullying Day in Canada, commonly known as Pink Shirt Day. We ask for your help in recognizing the day, taking part in events, and ensuring we uphold CNC’s values every day.
Students deserve to learn and employees deserve to work in an environment free of harassment. The impacts of bullying can be long lived, and affect one’s mental health and wellbeing. We address these aspects in CNC’s Student (Non-Academic) Conduct Policy as well as the Respectful Workplace Policy for employees.
We must be diligent to prevent bullying, harassment and/or discrimination, and actively address any incidents. We welcome and encourage you to take steps to promote a welcoming college environment and bring forward anything that may negatively impact that environment.
Many students will be on reading break this week. We do want to advise of some events and activities taking place. These include:
- A virtual active bystander intervention workshop on February 23rd, giving you the skills to recognize and intervene during an incident of sexual violence; and
- A virtual game night and social night on February 23rd on the CNC Students’ Union’s Discord community. Please visit the CNCSU Facebook page for more.
We also encourage you to wear pink to show your support for a college and communities that are free of bullying, harassment and discrimination.
